Marguerite Mason Summar

Marguerite Mason Summar, 96, died on December 26, 2018 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania at The Sarah Todd Memorial Home. The daughter of Helen Marie Petersen Mason and Milo Martin Mason, she was born in the family home near Greenville, Michigan on June 10, 1922.
Mrs. Summar was a 1940 graduate of Sheridan High School, serving as class president. She attended The University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and graduated from Harper Hospital School of Nursing in Detroit as a Diploma Nurse. She served as a registered nurse in emergency services and orthopedics at Harper Hospital and Middle Tennessee State Medical Center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee until her retirement.
Mrs. Summar belonged to First Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, Tennessee and remained a watch care member of First Baptist Church until her passing, a recipient of her church’s sustaining love. Following her move to Pennsylvania in 2002, she also became a member of First United Church of Christ, Carlisle. Mrs. Summar especially enjoyed the fellowship shared at 1stUCC Second Tuesday events, and she was a lifetime member of UCC Homes Auxiliary. She was a member of Old Bellaire Chapter no. 375 Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Summar was also a member of the Danish Cultural Society of Greenville, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her husband Seldon Augustus Summar, their stillborn infant son, a sister Marion Christine Scott, a brother Max Melvin Mason, and her nephews James Arvin Jensen, Jeffrey Chester Jensen, and Paul Edward Linnan.
She is survived by her three sisters Marvel Mason Linnan, Ruth Mason Reed, and Sue Ellen Howell; a daughter and son in law Alice Summar Womack and Kenneth W. Womack, and two granddaughters Sarah Paige Womack and Kendall Meredith Womack as well as her many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, January 3, 2019 at First United Church of Christ, 30 North Pitt Street, Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Final memorial and internment will be at a later time this spring at the Danish Cemetery in South Sidney, Michigan where five generations of her family are buried.
