Margaret Reimer

Margaret Reimer, age 103, of Carlisle, died Monday, January 2, 2017 at the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
She was born May 7, 1913 in Mahaffey, PA to the late Thomas R. and Marie (Thompson) McCracken and was the widow of Melvin L. Reimer to whom she was married for 59 years.
Margaret was an educator in the Mahaffey School District followed by a career as a dedicated wife and mother. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and at Forest Park Health Center where she was a member of the auxillary. Margaret was a member of Middlesex United Methodist Church and was a past Matron of the Coalport Chapter #427, Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by: her daughters, Judith (and husband Peter) Duncan of Walnut Creek, CA, Susan (and husband John) Ferguson of Petersburg, IL and Kathy Reimer of Denton, TX; four grandchildren, Susan, John, Ashley and David; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas G. McCracken and sister, Barbara Conser.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Middlesex United Methodist Church, 118 N. Middlesex Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Jan F. Hughes officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. There will be a viewing from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 9, 2017 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Middlesex United Methodist Church, 118 N. Middlesex Road, Carlisle, PA 17013, Forest Park Health Center, 700 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle, PA 17013 or to Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 20018.
