Maliyah Kaelynn Lewis, 15, of Carlisle, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2020 at Harrisburg Hospital while surrounded by her loving family.
She was born January 29, 2005 in Camp Hill to Krystal R. Ross of Carlisle and the late Ricardo M. Lewis.
Maliyah was a special, vibrant, fearless, beautiful, and very artistically gifted little girl who enjoyed music, dance, theater and learning to speak Spanish. She was a REACH dancer and played the cello at her school. Maliyah was proud to be a distinguished honor student at Carlisle Area High School where she won a spelling bee last year. She was also very interested in sports, playing them, coaching them and watching them. Maliyah was active at Faith Chapel where she attended the youth group since she was in second grade. She had very fond memories from her visits to the Wilds Camp in North Carolina each of the last six years with the Faith Chapel youth group. Maliyah’s dimples and big smile were always noticeable when she was around and will be missed by family and friends.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her brother, Daniel Harris; her sister, London Henderson; her maternal grandparents, Papa Victor and Nanny Terryl Vitale; her paternal grandmother, Claudia Roth; two aunts, Toya Campbell and Deanine Schmitz; two uncles, Peter (wife Betty) Lewis and Vito Vitale; and her cousin, Zachary Traverse.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at the Faith Chapel with Pastor Michael J. Mayer officiating. Burial will follow at Letort Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the church. As mandated by Governor Wolfe maximum capacity during gatherings is restricted and you may be asked to wait at the door when you arrive until numbers allow for your entrance.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Maliyah to Faith Chapel, 1453 Holly Pike Carlisle, PA 17015.
