Lydia M. Sheaffer

Lydia M. Sheaffer, age 85, of Shermans Dale, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the Bridges at Bent Creek, Mechanicsburg.
She was born October 18, 1931 in Landisburg to the late Charles and Mabel (Darr) Smith.
Lydia was a 1950 graduate of the Perry Joint High School. She formerly worked at the Hunt Crystal Plant and retired from the West Perry School District. She was a devoted, long time, member of Kennedy Valley Church of God in Landisburg, and then Shermans Dale United Methodist church where she was on the Ladies Aide committee. She enjoyed gardening, baking and traveling, sometimes taking bus trips with her friends.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Sherwood V. Sheaffer, Jr. of Shermans Dale; a daughter, Brucetta (and husband Paul) Shatto of Shermans Dale; a son, Kevin (and wife Lori) Sheaffer of Camp Hill; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Lydia was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, John and George Smith and a sister, Evelyn Cline.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 28, 2016 at Shermans Dale United Methodist Church, 50 Windy Hill Road, Shermans Dale, PA with Rev. Travis James Allshouse officiating. Burial will follow at the Presbyterian Church Cemetery. There will be a viewing from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA and on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services.
