Lowell D. “Budd” Newcomer I, 65, of Carlisle, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at the home of his son in Dillsburg, with his loving family by his side.
He was born September 4, 1957 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Lowell D. Newcomer and Barbara J. Newcomer-Cruikshank (Morris).
Budd was a beloved friend to everyone. His bold and outgoing personality, quick wit, and unrelenting humor—even if sometimes even a bit off-color, allowed those who knew and loved him to glimpse into his fun-loving and caring soul. Budd’s friendships ran deep, and they will now become eternal until we all meet again for the next round with Budd.
Budd had an unwavering passion for everything automotive and marine. Whether he was earning his living driving big rigs across the United States (all 48 lower states), cruising around town in his Jeep, enjoying scenic train rides with his grandchildren, admiring classic muscle cars at local events, riding motorcycles with his friends, or dreaming of navigating America’s Great Loop on a small motorboat, his gears were always turning, planning his next adventure. His final journey was no different. He fought relentlessly to overcome numerous health issues for many months, but God had other plans and invited him to navigate the many corners of heaven alongside his angels.
Budd was a member of the Fraternal order of Eagles #1299, Carlisle, and the Carlisle Club Circle Lodge No. 1.
Budd is survived by two sons, Lowell D. Newcomer, II (late Amanda) of Wellsville, PA and Nicholas O. (Natalie) of Dillsburg; one granddaughter, Nela Newcomer and one grandson, Noble Newcomer; two sisters Victoria Newcomer-Cottrell and Dawn Newcomer-Stoeffler. In addition to his father, Lowell was predeceased by two brothers, Shawn L. and Thomas Newcomer.
Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at the Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, with Chaplain Rey Villarreal officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00 p.m. Private interment will be at Dillsburg Cemetery at the convenience at the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Lowell to The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), ASPCA Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 96929, Washington, DC 20090-6929.
