Lourene D. Meredith, age 82, of Carlisle, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, PA.
She was born on May 24, 1933 in Boiling Springs to the late Edgar V. and Mildred Z. Martin Donnelly and was the widow of Carl A. "Mike" Meredith.
Lourene retired as the secretary for the Superintendent of South Middleton School District after 30 years of total service to the school district. She was a member of Carlisle United Methodist Church where she was a past board member, bell choir member and occasional instrumentalist. She enjoyed playing the piano at the Church of God Home to entertain the residents and for services. She liked gardening, traveling and truly loved spending time with her family. She also liked spending time at the family cabin.
She is survived by two sons, David R. (and wife Sandy) Lerew of Baltimore, MD and Jason D. (and wife Christine) Lerew of Allentown, PA; a daughter, Victoria (and husband Matthew) Burr of Boiling Springs; sisters, Kathleen Ege of Carlisle and Mary Weaver of Ocala, FL; sister-in-law, Janet Lerew of Mechanicsburg; step-children, Tonya Motter, Michael Meredith of Boiling Springs, Jody Wheeler of Boiling Springs and Steve Meredith of Dillsburg; nine grandchildren and six step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ray W. Lerew; sister, Verna Denisar; and step-grandson, Dustin Meredith.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at Carlisle United Methodist Church, 45 S. West St., Carlisle with Rev. James E. VanZandt officiating. Burial will be held privately at Bakers Cemetery. There will be a viewing from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Tuesday.
