Louise May Vaughn peacefully passed away on the morning of 23 December 2011 at 80 years of age.
Louise was born in Allentown, PA in 1931, after schooling she worked in the restaurant business at the Buck Hills Falls resort in the heart of the Pennsylvania Poconos region, which is where she met her husband Don Vaughn. Louise and Don partnered to work at many restaurant venues including the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, CO. They returned to Carlisle in the early 1950’s married and started their own businesses including the well known “Don Vaughn Loungeâ€Â and “Ye Olde Ale Houseâ€Â located on the Carlisle Pike in Mechanicsburg.
She had many mutual friends throughout the community. In years past Louise used her spare time to play tennis and golf. Louise’s passion was tending to her many flower beds and keeping the family estate looking pristine. Louise was a devoted Wife, Mother and Grandmother; she will be deeply missed and long remembered by her family and friends.
Louise leaves behind: two daughters; Denise Vaughn of Carlisle and Linda Vaughn Bolen and her husband Pete of Blain, two grandsons; Ted Harris of Harrisburg and Gregory Harris of Dover, one granddaughter, Ashley Bolen Weibley and her husband Jon of Carlisle, her brothers-in-law; Dean Vaughn and his wife Connie of Hershey and Dale Vaughn and his companion Bonnie Tallman of Harrisburg, her sisters-in-law; Patricia Texter of Strasburg, Dorcas Sherman and her husband Richard of Mt. Holly Springs and Connie McDermond and her husband Joe of North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her brother Carl A. Texter.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 219 N. Hanover St. Carlisle.
