A life well lived came to an unexpected end on Thursday March 10th 2022 at UPMC West Shore Hospital in Mechanicsburg, PA. Louise Ann Alder, (Jacobson) 71, of Carlisle passed away unexpectedly on the morning of Thursday, March 10, 2022.
Born on Friday, May 12th, 1950, in Baltimore, MD to Albert Jacobson and Marion Cage.
Louise grew up in Locust Point area of South Baltimore and attended Francis Scott Key Elementary and Middle School and was a 1968 graduate of Eastern High.
Louise was active in community organizations in Baltimore and as such in 1978-79 led a community coalition and was spokesperson for opposition to development of the newly transformed open space in Baltimore’s inner harbor. She led a successful petition drive to place question of development on city ballot for voters to decide in fall of 1979. Louise was later appointed to and served on Baltimore City Board of Directors for Recreation and Parks. She enjoyed gardening, artisan bread making, and taking care of her” furry” friends: Jasmine, Chloe, and Ozzie. One of her favorite pastimes was “treasure hunting” at yard sales and thrift shops.
Survived by her husband of 51 years Timothy C. Alder, daughter Keirstn Johnson and husband Joel Johnson, grandchildren Avery Johnson, Samuel Johnson, and Elise Johnson. Also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews and goddaughter Mila Johns and godson Stephen B. Alder.
Louise will be terribly missed by family and friends with whom she shared this life.
In celebration of her life a memorial service will be conducted on May 12th, 2022, at 1:00PM at Otterbein United Methodist Church, 647 Forge Rd Carlisle, PA 17015. Reception to immediately follow the service.
