January 14, 1964 – March 29, 2914
Once diagnosed with cancer, Lisa Elizabeth Ramey never complained, and she maintained a deep trust in the Lord's perfect will for her life. She continued, as she had in her years of health, hosting dinner parties, taking time with each of her adoring nieces and nephews, serving in her church and loving her husband. She was a sparkling, intelligent and caring woman whose gentleness was evident to all.
Lisa passed from this earthly life on March 29 at the Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, PA. She now knows in full what it is to be in the presence of the Lord her God. She was surrounded by faithful family and friends until the moment of her calling heavenward.
Lisa was born on January 14, 1964, and grew up Perry County and Plainfield, PA. She graduated from Big Spring High School and married her high school sweetheart, Greg Ramey. The two enjoyed 34 years of friendship and marriage, traveling, attending concerts and dining out together. Lisa was a wife of noble character as described in Proverbs 31.
Always putting other's needs before her own, Lisa poured out her talents, time and whole heart into Children's Ministry at New Life Community Church. She enjoyed the sisterhood of other followers of Christ in the Women Walking With Women Sunday School Class at the Carlisle Brethren In Christ Church as well as in her own family. She created an atmosphere of welcome and warmth in her home where she excelled in the arts of cooking and hospitality.
Lisa was incredibly smart and articulate, enjoying an 18 year career in professional recruiting, and she held a PA life insurance license. Although she was a successful business woman, she played hard too. Just before her illness, Lisa had been honing her athletic capabilities, enjoying many hours and miles in the company of her father who is also an avid biker. She was one of two females to complete the 2013 Kings Gap Mountain Challenge, and she participated in the Dirty Girl Mud Run with her friend Mary Jo in 2013. From power-walking to bird watching, Lisa found connection with God in the beauty of his creation. She delighted in giving "kitty-smootches" to her cat, Patch.
Lisa is survived by her devoted husband, Greg, of Carlisle, PA and her son Jason Ramey of Mechanicsburg, PA. Her parents, Gerald D and Nancy G (O'Toole) Rasmus of Camp Hill also survive her, as do her brothers Daniel Rasmus and his wife, Jolene (Krouch) of Mechanicsburg, Steve Rasmus and his wife Ann (Woltz) of Harrisburg, Tim Rasmus and his girlfriend, Mary Jo Smoyer of Columbia, loving in-laws Al and Charlsie Rydell of Mount Holly Spring and seven fond nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Central PA 1320 Linglestown Road Harrisburg, PA 17110 who took wonderful care of Lisa and her family in the days leading up to her passing.
Lisa's life will be celebrated at the Carlisle Brethren In Christ Church, located at 1155 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle, PA on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 1:00pm with Pastors Linda Lambert and Ryan Brown officiating.
