Lilian (“Leeâ€Â) Lewis Stewart, 78, of Carlisle, died Monday, January 16, 2012 at Select Specialty Hospital, Harrisburg.
Born June 10, 1933 in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late Judson Willard and Lillian Mae Harvey Lewis.
She graduated from the Albert Einstein School of Nursing, Philadelphia as a Registered Nurse. She worked alongside her husband as a Registered Nurse in his pediatric medical practice. She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, Carlisle. She ran a nursery school and served on several boards of charitable organizations, including serving as chairman of the board of the Presbyterian Home of Auburn, NY. Lilian served on Session of several Presbyterian Churches. She also served as Stephen Ministry Leader and as Stephen Minister at several churches.
Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Neil Sillars Stewart of Carlisle; six children, A. Bruce Stewart of Oneida, NY, David Neil Stewart of Syracuse, NY, Gwyneth Gail Stewart of Cincinnati, OH, Allen Ferguson Stewart of Boerne, TX, Bronwyn Lewis Ship of Canandaigua, NY and Rhyssa Ruth Livingston of Pittsburgh; one sister, Ann Dancy of Durham, NC; and eleven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Marian Lewis Stewart and Janet Ruth Edwards.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 21 at Second Presbyterian Church, 528 Garland Drive, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Jennifer McKenna officiating.
Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
