Gettysburg

Leticia M. Estevez, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away at her home in Gettysburg, PA, on Sunday, January 5th, 2025, at the age of 34. Born in Chambersburg on May 30th, 1990, Leticia had a kind soul that was deeply loved by her family and friends. Her passing leaves a tremendous void in their hearts, and they take comfort in the thought that she is now free from pain, running, dancing, and living freely in heaven.

Leticia is preceded in death by her grandmother, Dolores E. Miller, and her niece, Elena Groft. She is survived by her parents, Reyes and Rose Estevez of Bendersville; her sister, Aloysia Groft, and her husband, Brian, of Gardners; her brother, Reyes Estevez, and his fiancé, Ivy, of Bendersville; her nephews, Trenten Runkles, Briceton West, and Dastan West; and her niece, Lena Groft.

Leticia graduated from Biglerville High School in 2008. Throughout her life, she had a huge soft spot for animals, and her heart was always open to those in need. Her beloved pets, Minkus, Ahri, and Shadow, were her constant companions, and she would often joke that she loved animals more than people. Her compassion extended to stray cats, always taking them in when they needed help and offering them a safe haven. Leticia was especially fond of her cat, Minkus.

In addition to her love for animals, Leticia had a passion for gaming, especially her favorite game, Elder Scrolls Online. It was here that she built a second family, forging lasting friendships and creating meaningful connections. Whether raiding dungeons or simply exploring new worlds, Leticia’s warmth and humor made her a beloved member of the gaming communities she was a part of. Her family and friends in both the physical and virtual worlds will cherish the moments they shared with her, always remembering her infectious laughter and generous spirit.

Leticia's fight against muscular dystrophy was a battle she faced with strength and dignity. Though the disease gradually took away her physical abilities, it never took away her light. It was a painful journey to witness, one she fought with unwavering strength, each day presenting a new battle. Her family now finds comfort knowing that, in heaven, Leticia is no longer bound by her condition but is instead running, dancing, and living freely in peace. Her loss leaves a massive hole in their close-knit family, but her memory will forever remain in their hearts.

Leticia's legacy of compassion, love for animals, and warmth toward others will live on in the countless lives she touched. Though she may be gone, her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her.

Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of Leticia’s life at Misty Ridge Community Building, 25 Sunnie Way, Gettysburg, PA 17325 on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 1:30pm to 5:00pm.
