Leopold L. Otway

April 24, 1927 — December 18, 2018

Leopold L. “Leo” Otway, 91, of Carlisle and formerly of Princeton, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2018.
He was born on April 24, 1927 in Bronx, NY to the late George and Betty (Braun) Otway and was the widower of Ruth Virginia “Ginny” (Schilling) Otway to whom he had been married for 64 years.
Leo honorably served his country in the US Navy during WWII. He was the owner/operator of Leo’s Rural Service in Princeton, NJ for nearly 50 years. Leo was a 33rd Degree Mason and was formerly the Most Worshipful Grand Master for the State of New Jersey. He loved flying and was fortunate enough to have his own plane. Leo enjoyed traveling, playing golf, and watching the New York Yankees.
He is survived by one son, Robert L. (wife Susan) Otway of Carlisle; one daughter, Barbara O. Rose of Carlisle; two grandsons, Rob (wife Mei) Rose of Dalian, China and James Rose of Carlisle; one great-granddaughter, Reagan Rose, whom he loved dearly; and his niece and nephew, Jennifer and Skip and their families. In addition to his parents and his wife, Leo was preceded in death by his brother George Robert Otway.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA with Rev. John L. Larson officiating. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Kingston, NJ. A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held in January at Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks Street Bordentown, New Jersey 08505.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in memory of Leo to the Masonic Village at Burlington, 902 Jacksonville Rd, Burlington, NJ 08016.
