Rev. Leon W. Young, 85, of Carlisle, died Monday, November 10, 2014 at Forest Park Health Center, Carlisle.
Born January 30, 1929 in White Deer, PA, he was a son of the late Alfred Morton and Ada Valzora Smith Young.
He was a graduate of Bob Jones University, Greenville, SC and American Bible School in Chicago, IL. He was an ordained minister of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church. He pastored churches throughout Pennsylvania, as well as North Carolina and Delaware. He served the Christian & Missionary Alliance Churches in numerous capacities at the District level, including District Superintendent. He enjoyed hunting and working on cars.
Surviving are his wife of sixty-two years, Helen I. Young of Carlisle; one sister, Lenna Mae Coup of Allenwood; nephews; Arthur Baumgardner, Robert, Donald and Michael Young, Marvin, Kenny Barry and Wayne Young, Jeffrey Coup; nieces: Rose Young, Mary Wolfe, Susie Bowersox, Jeanne Miller, Judith Soles, Renee Richter. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Olan and Randall Young and one sister, Frances Young.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 17, 2014 at Chapel Pointe at Carlisle, 770 South Hanover Street, Carlisle, with Rev. Robert Young officiating. A private burial will be in Watsontown Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at Chapel Pointe at Carlisle.
