Leon S. Ludt, 88, of Carlisle, died Friday, September 7, 2012 at his home.
Born March 1, 1924 in South Middleton Township, a son of the late Elmer and Elizabeth Fulton Ludt.
He worked for the Naval Supply Depot, Mechanicsburg with 40 years of service and 10 years working independently with contractors doing similar work. He was a member of West Hill United Methodist Church of Carlisle, where he served as usher. Leon was a member of the American Legion Post 101, Carlisle; AARP; NAARF; and a charter member of the National WWII Memorial. He was a US Air Force veteran who served during WWII.
Surviving are his wife of 36 years, E. Irene Ludt of Carlisle; one daughter, Patricia A. Forney (and husband, Perry) of Carlisle; one son, Ronald Ludt (and wife, Brenda) of Carlisle; seven grandchildren, Irene Blantz of Lanacaster, Albert Jones of Newville, Amy Paskalik of Carlisle, Shari Repman of Mount Joy, Karen Hasco of Newville, Courtney Wiser of Mount Holly Springs, Kelsey Mayberry of Newville and ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Otto, Robert, William, J. D. Paul, Charles, Fred, and Herman; three sisters, Margaret Ludt, Florence Bistline, and Mary Bitner, one step-daughter, Rosie Lay and one son-in-law, A. Donald Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, with Rev. Lisa Clinger and Timothy D. Wheeler co-officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle with full military honors conducted by Cumberland County Honor Guard. A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 12, 2012 and on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
