Lenhard E. Mullen, 91, of Enola passed away on Friday, October 12, 2018.
He was born on January 2, 1927 in Perry County to the late Luther and Katheryn (Leber) Mullen and was the widower of Ruth E. Durham, who passed in December 1999. He is survived by his daughters, Brenda (husband Richard) Goodhart and Carolyn (husband Douglas) Gibboney; two sisters, Barbara (husband Ronald) Smith and Joan Palm, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, Lenhard was preceded in death by two sisters, Dolores Adams and Betty Vanasdlen and his companion of 15 years, Helen O' Hara.
In 1944, Lenhard enlisted in the Army Air Force and traveled to many islands in the Caribbean. He served until 1946. For nearly four decades, he was employed by PRR and Conrail in the Enola railroad yards as an air brake machinist. Throughout his life he remained interested in all things PRR. He was a "hands on" mechanic who amassed a collection of sixty-plus Corvairs and later made a hobby of repairing vintage John Deere lawn tractors. He enjoyed camping and was a member of VFW, American Legion and Eagles.
Throughout his life, Lenhard loved animals. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to any animal welfare organization, Homeland Hospice or American Cancer Society.
Per Lenhard's request no memorial service will be held.
