Mrs. Laura A. Lucas nee Kammer, 85, of Carlisle, PA died Friday, April 6, 2018 surrounded by her loving family and best friend.
Born December 30, 1932 in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Christian and Anna (Severe) Kammer. She was the last remaining child.
She and her husband, Jack B. Lucas, of 58 years were married September 5, 1959 in Baltimore, MD. The family relocated to Carlisle, PA in 1970.
Mrs. Lucas worked for the Board of Education in Baltimore before and after marriage. She resigned just prior to the birth of her first child to become a full-time homemaker. She found great joy in sewing, knitting, and quilting as well as sharing her skills with others. When her children reached their teenage years, she returned to the employment ranks. She retired from the Cumberland County Nursing Home in 1995 as a personnel administrative assistant.
She is survived by: her husband, Jack B. Lucas; daughter, Jacqueline D. Kennedy (Robert L. Morgan, Jr.); sons, Jaq B. Lucas, Jr., and Stephen A. Lucas (Mary M.); grandchildren, Joshua J. Kennedy (Allison S.), Clara A. V. Lucas, and Archer K. Lucas; and great-grandchildren Jack M., Lucas S., and William J. Kennedy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by all her siblings: her twin sister, Pauline R. Bailey; older sisters, Blanche C. Dukehart, Helen M. Mullin, and Ruth M. Bossom; older brothers, John (Jack) C. Kammer, Richard C. Kammer, Earl O. Kammer, and Edward K. Kammer.
A service of remembrance for Laura will be announced at a later date. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army, 20 East Pomfret Street, Carlisle, PA 17013 and Project Share, 5 N Orange Street #4, Carlisle, PA 17013.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA.
