Larry E. Roadcap Sr., 69, of Carlisle, went to be with his Heavenly Father, Friday February 24, 2012 in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.
Born October 22, 1942 in Halifax, the son of the late Leonard C Sr. and Beatrice Shrawder Roadcap.
Mr. Roadcap retired from Kinney Shoe Corporation, Carlisle, as a manager, after 35 years of service. He was also employed by Saidis, Shuff, Flower, and Lindsey Law Firm for six years. Most recently, he was employed by the Census Bureau. Larry was a current member of Good Shepherd Community Church in Carlisle, where he was a past treasurer. He was also a former member of Bethel Assembly of God, Carlisle. He was a member of the Elks BPO 578, and taught Junior Achievement and Dale Carnegie Courses. Larry was an incredibly devoted and loving family man who always placed his family first. He enjoyed playing tennis and family games, and truly loved boating with his family and going to Rehoboth beach.
Surviving are his wife of 16 years, Suzan (Morrison) Funk Roadcap; two sons, Larry Roadcap Jr. and his wife Debra, Carlisle, and Danny Roadcap and his wife Stephanie, Boiling Springs; two daughters, Kathy Benton and her husband, Jeffrey, and Tracy Gates and her husband, Charles, all of Carlisle; three step-sons, David Funk and his wife Dena, Barto PA, Brian Funk and his wife Christine, and Eric Funk, all of Newville; two brothers, Leonard Roadcap Jr. (Joann), James Roadcap (Jeanne) all of Halifax, three sisters, Mary Louise Carroll (Alfred) of Millersburg, Bonnie King and Elizabeth Roadcap, both of Halifax, and a sister-in-law, Dinah Roadcap of Carlisle. Larry was a devoted “Pappyâ€Â to his grandchildren: Larry Roadcap III, Brandon Roadcap, Bradley Roadcap, Colleena Benton, Caitlyn Benton, Christa Benton, Cody Roadcap, Evan Gates, Alyssa Roadcap and Maisy Funk, as well as three-great-grandchildren, Christian Benton, Avaree Benton, and Carissa Roadcap. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Roadcap.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday March 25, 2012 at the Tree of Life Church, 50 K Street, Carlisle.
Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home and Crematory, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle is handling the arrangements. At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home and Crematory.
