Kenneth McVicker, age 78, of Carlisle, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017 at his home.
He was born May 27, 1939 in Cuyahoga Falls, OH to the late Kenneth, Sr., and Martha (Rice) McVicker.
Ken proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was employed for 32 years by the NSA. He was multilingual, speaking fluent Russian and German, in addition to his native English. He enjoyed volunteering at Project SHARE and was a member of the Mt. Holly Rod and Gun Club. Ken and his wife enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe. He and his wife loved their dogs and adopted senior rescue dogs. Ken will be remembered for being kind, sweet, loyal and funny. His warm personality always seemed to draw people to him.
He is survived by: his loving wife of 32 years, Margaret M. (Mayhan) McVicker of Carlisle; three children, Kenneth McVicker, Wendy Diaz and Jim McVicker, all of MD; two step-daughters, Tracey Arter and Shelby Cunningham, both of MD; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bill McVicker. In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by a brother, John and a sister, Thelma.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Pastor Tim Wheeler officiating. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
