Kathryn B. Kerr, age 63, of Newville, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at her home.
She was born in Carlisle on July 14, 1952 to L. William Burkholder, Jr. and the late Mary Ann Wall Burkholder who passed in 2011.
Kathryn graduated from Carlisle High School, Class of 1970. She was an Interior Designer by trade for most of her life, starting her career at Early's Furniture Store. Kathryn enjoyed gardening, the beach and watching Duke basketball. She had a zest for life and making it beautiful and she adored her husband, family and especially her grandchildren. A special Christmas tradition of Kathryn's family was to greet everyone with the words "Christmas gift" first thing on Christmas morning and she made sure to pass it on to the next generations of her family.
In addition to her father, Kathryn is survived by her husband of 44 years, Andrew M. Kerr of Newville; children, Stephanie L. Killian and her significant other, Brian Miller of Carlisle, Timothy A. (and wife Jennifer) Kerr of Newville, John R. (and wife Chelsea) Kerr of York and Kristina A. (and husband Luke) Deatrick of Newville; six grandchildren; sister-in-law, Cathie Burkholder; sister, Edith Ludt; three brothers, Blaine Kuhn, Ronald Fahnestock and Bill Kuhn; an aunt, June B. Lutz; and uncle Kirby K. Burkholder. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a brother, L.W. "Bucky" Burkholder.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Carlisle First Church of God, 705 Glendale Street, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Michael Poe and Rev. Greg Hench officiating. There will be a visitation at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
