Kathleen C. Eckenroad

Kathleen C. Eckenroad, 71, of Carlisle, died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at the Harrisburg Hospital.

Born June 11, 1940, in Claridge, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Cecilia Kivala Baloh.

She was a member of the Wesleyan Church of the Cross where she served as president of the Wesleyan Women and was also formerly in the choir and supervised the nursery. Kathleen volunteered her time at Project SHARE. She was the "cookie mom" for the Girl Scouts.

Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Floyd Eckenroad of Carlisle; one daughter, Lori Smith of Mt. Holly Springs; two sons, Alan Eckenroad (and wife, Lorie) of Beech Creek and Mark Eckenroad (and wife, Trish) of Carlisle; two brothers, Mike Baloh (and wife, Charlotte) of Harrison City and Tim Baloh (and wife, Annette) of Manor; and four grandchildren, Jennifer Eckenroad of Beech Creek, Ben Smith of Norfolk, Va., Kellie Smith of Mt. Holly Springs and Ty Eckenroad of Carlisle. She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Baloh.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at the Wesleyan Church of the Cross, 430 B Street, Carlisle with the Rev. Daniel R. Mikesell officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the church.
