Julie Ferrari Mckain

Julie Ferrari McKain, age 57, of Carlisle, PA passed away unexpectedly Thursday, August 31, 2017.
She was born December 26, 1959 in Ridgway, PA to Sophie (Yopek) Ferrari of Ridgway and the late Remo Ferrari.
Julie received a B.A. in Sociology from Dickinson College in 1981 and her J.D. from the Dickinson School of Law in 1984. She later earned her M.S. in Psychology from Shippensburg University in 2004. Following her law school graduation, she began her career as Deputy District Attorney in Dauphin County. After leaving the District Attorney’s office, she worked for five years as a court-appointed Guardian Ad Litem for dependent children in Cumberland County. She then joined her husband, Chuck, as an Investment Advisor at Morgan Stanley until their retirement in 2015.
Julie enjoyed oil painting and was a voracious reader. She also enjoyed exercising with friends, going for bike rides with her husband, and participating in walking half-marathons in various cities. In addition, she volunteered at Maranatha and Employment Skills, both of Carlisle. A devoted friend, wife, and mother, Julie loved socializing and talking with her friends and family. She had a gift for making everyone she spoke with feel validated and special.
In addition to her mother, Julie is survived by: her husband of 35 years, Charles J. McKain of Carlisle; two sons, Charles J. McKain, Jr. of Madison, WI and John F. McKain of West Chester, PA; four brothers and sisters, Geno (wife Dorothy) Ferrari of Ridgway, Angela Ferrari of Erie, PA, Diane (husband Donald) Park of Ridgway and Michael (wife Teresa) Ferrari of Cleveland, OH; several nieces and nephews; and mother-in-law, Donna McKain (husband Jack Bushey).
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
