Joyce H. Mumper

Joyce H. Mumper, 89, of Carlisle, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at her home.

She was born December 16, 1933, in Carlisle to the late John J. and Evelyn (Walters) Hess. Joyce was the widow of William L. Mumper who passed away in 1981.

She was a 1951 graduate of Boiling Springs High School. Joyce was formerly employed by the Carlisle Shoe Factory and Attorney Tom H. Bietsch. She eventually found a career in real estate and worked for George L. Ebner and Associates for many years before retiring. Joyce enjoyed traveling, especially to any place with a beach. She was a member of American Business Women’s Association and bowled in leagues at Midway. Joyce was a longtime member of the Wesleyan Church of The Cross where she served as secretary for the Wesleyan Women’s Group.

She is survived by two loving daughters, Vicki (husband Roger) Baker and Terri Mumper both of Carlisle; one brother, John J. (wife Liz) Hess of California; three sisters, Naomi Lamason of Carlisle, Nancy Finney of Harrisburg, and Jackie (husband Sam) Black of Carlisle; three grandchildren, Kimberly (husband Clayton) Lynch of Gardners, Matthew (wife Erin) Baker of Carlisle, and Chad (wife Michelle) Baker of Carlisle; ten great-grandchildren, Jordan (wife Jessica) Sloop, Jacob (wife Madison) Sloop, Ryane (husband Sam) Shipman, Nikolas Lynch, Dylan Baker, Ian Baker, Lauren Baker, William Baker, Lyla Baker, and Bryson Baker; two great-great grandchildren, Gwendalyn and Hudson; and she was expecting her third in December. In addition to her husband and her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her infant sister, Iris Hess and her sister, Betty Wilson.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 14, 2023, at the Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA 17013. Burial will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
