Joyce Ann Smith

Joyce Ann Smith, age 74, of Gardners, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at the Harrisburg Hospital, Harrisburg, PA.
She was born on June 25, 1941 in Newville, PA to the late John Herman and Grace E. Ensminger Fickes and was the widow of the late Robert W. Smith who passed on January 29, 2016 and to whom she had been married for 54 years.
Joyce was formerly a hairdresser at the Joyce Morgan Beauty and Wig Salon and the salon at the Carlisle Barracks. She was retired from the Church of God Home in Carlisle after serving 20 years there as a cook. She was a member of Christian Life Community Church. Joyce enjoyed spending her free time baking, working puzzles, crocheting and being with her family.
She is survived by three children, Lisa Smith, Robert H. Smith and Stephanie Smith, all of Carlisle; and a sister, Donna (and husband Howard) Barrick of Newville. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary and John Fickes.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory. 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Pastor Steve Gibb officiating. Interment will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Newville. There will be a viewing on Monday, February 15, 2106 at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
