Joyce A. Minnich, 77, of Carlisle died Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
Born August 20, 1936 in Dickinson Township, Carlisle, she was a daughter of the late George and Grace Howe Hamilton and the widow of Col. William E. Minnich.
She retired from the Big Spring School District after thirty-eight years. In her free time she enjoyed cracking black walnuts to make the families favorite black walnut candy and bread. She loved to can and freeze vegetables from her own garden, but most of all the time she spent with her loving family.
Surviving are two sons, William G. Baker III (and wife, Cathy) of Gettysburg and Robert Baker of Carlisle; three daughters, Carol A. Barrick of Carlisle, Donna B. Stinson of Gettysburg and Teresa L. Baker of Carlisle; one brother, Charles Hamilton of Florida; two sisters, Pauline Fanus of Florida, and Miriam Eichelberger of Mechanicsburg. She was preceded in death her companion, Stanley R. Warfel; granddaughter, Tracy Mixell; great-granddaughter, Kali Ann Mixell; one brother, Robert Hamilton; three sisters, Ruth and Betty Miller and Blondena Kramer.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2014 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
