Joy L. Forrest

Joy L. Forrest, 93, of Carlisle, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Church of God Home, Carlisle.
She was born on July 6, 1924 in Fulton County to the late Roy C. and Lillian L. (Miller) Shafer and was the widow of Frank W. Forrest.
She is survived by one daughter, Cathy “Cat” Forrest of Collegeville, four grandchildren; David Gotwals (wife Amanda) of Collegeville, Kate Schwindet (husband Darren) of Highlands Ranch, CO, Jamie Johnson (husband Brian) of Pipersville, and Leslie Valario of Houston, TX, eight great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. She is also survived by her brother in law, her sister in law, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Joy was preceded in death by one daughter, Carol Forrest; two brothers, Donald and Richard Shafer, one great grandson, Noah and her sister in law, Bernice.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Great Hope Baptist Church, 110 Fern Avenue, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Dale Barrick and Rev. Joel Barrick co-officiating. Burial will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. There will be a viewing on Wednesday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
