Josephine C. "Jo" Pogue

Josephine C. "Jo" Pogue, age 93, of Carlisle, passed away Monday, December 12, 2016 at the West Shore Hospital, Mechanicsburg.
She was born April 23, 1923 in Boston, MA to the late James and Rose (Prato) Costa and was the widow of William L. Pogue, Jr. who passed August 20, 2001. They had been married for 53 years.
Jo proudly served in The Women's Army Corps during World War II. She like to knit, crochet and read and the time she spent with her family was precious to her.
She is survived by a son, Charles E. (and wife Susan) Pogue of Deland, FL; two daughters, Patricia R. (and husband Terry) Vincent of Pittsburgh and Sarah R. Pogue of Carlisle; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Jo was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew Costa and a sister, Frances Buchannon.
Private graveside services will be held at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the Cumberland County Honor Guard at the convenience of the family. There will not be any public visitation or viewing.
