Joseph “Earl” Shughart, 78, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. He died peacefully at UPMC Carlisle, surrounded by his sons, Gregory, and Steve.
Earl Shughart was the son of the late Floyd and Aurella (House) Shughart. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara (Kline) Shughart and his sister Joyce (Shughart) Palm.
He is survived by his sons, Gregory (Nicole) Shughart of Bethel Park, PA, and Steve Shughart of Mt. Holly Springs, PA, his grandson, Cole Shughart of Bethel Park, PA, his niece, Johnna Palm of Carlisle, and nephews, Jeff Palm of Carlisle and Bill (Allie) Jamison of Reisterstown, MD, and sister-in-law, Lois (Bill) Jamison of Camp Hill, PA.
Earl was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School. He was a US Army Reserve / PA National Guard veteran and worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for AMP Inc. / Tyco Electronics for over 50 years. He was a dedicated and faithful Carlisle United Methodist Church member, volunteering his time when available. Earl was also a founding father of the Cumberland Valley Corvette Club in 1965.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service 11 AM Friday, December 15, 2023 at Carlisle United Methodist Church, 333 S. Spring Garden Street, Carlisle, where the family will greet guests after 10 AM. Interment will take place in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.
