Joseph Hosler

Joseph Marlin Hosler, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on Tuesday, November 28th, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia Zinn Hosler.

Joseph was born on June 14th, 1935, in Newville, PA. He was the son of the late George W. and Martha (Brandt) Hosler. In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his brother William Hosler and his wife Patricia, his brother George Hosler and his wife Cleo, and his sister Shelby Gilbert and her husband Richard.

Joseph is survived by his four children, Connie (Ralph) Starner of Murells Inlet, SC; Wendy (David) Lehman of Carlisle, PA; Joel (Pamela) Hosler of Carlisle, PA; and Jerry (Debra) Hosler of Sinking Spring, PA. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Jason (Stephanie) Lehman, Kelly Lehman, Joseph Hosler, Alison (Mike) Fair, and Kiersten (Adam) Rhoad; along with 3 great-grandchildren, Fiona, Porter, and Crue.

Joe was a Class of 1953 graduate of Newville High School. He and Patricia celebrated 70 years of marriage on October 10th, 2023. He retired after 33 years of hard work for Texas Eastern Transmission Co. as a pipeliner. Joe was a member of the Camp Gnat Hunting Club and enjoyed spending time with his loved ones at their family cabin in Three Square Hollow. He enjoyed coaching Little League, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, and was an avid Penn State football fan. Joe was a lifelong member of the Mount Hope United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and served as a Trustee. He will be missed by family and friends, but is now at peace in his Heavenly home.

A viewing will begin at 10:00am on Tuesday, December 5th, followed by funeral services at 11:00am.  Both will be held at Hoffman Funeral Home, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA, with Pastor Jeff Cartwright officiating.  Graveside services will be held at Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle, PA.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to his church, 559 Whiskey Run Road, Newville, PA 17241, or to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
