John Ray Kelley Sr., 70, of Carlisle, died Saturday April 16, 2016 in the Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born October 19, 1945 in Carlisle, he was the son of the late Ray and Kathleen Lippert Kelley.
John was member of the Bethel Assembly of God Church, where he was an usher and sang in the choir. He was a volunteer fire fighter with the Cumberland Fire Company. He liked to fish, shoot pool and loved motorcycles, especially his own. John played the drums in the Carlisle High School Band and the West Shore Men Band. He sang in the Carlilian Chorus and assisted coaching baseball for the Carlisle National League. John loved to collect watches and pens. Most importantly, he loved his family especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Paulette J. Kelley; two sons, John Kelley Jr. and his wife Jamey, Mt. Holly Springs and Craig Kelley and his wife Andrea, Carlisle; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Heaven Rae Kelley.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday April 20, 2016 at the Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, with Pastor Shad Baker officiating. Burial will be in the Goodyear Cemetery. There will be a viewing from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of John's granddaughter Heaven Rae to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
