John R. Thompson

John R. Thompson, 62, of Carlisle, died Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at his home.
Born June 3, 1952 in Washington, DC, a son of the late Rueal J. and Kathleen Seay Thompson.
He was owner/operator for twenty-five years of the former Knisley's Performance Auto. After retiring from his auto shop, he worked for Walnart. John raced for thirty years at South Mountain Dragway, also known as Quarter Aces Dragway.
Surviving are his wife of thirty-eight years, Beverly A. (Nace) Thompson of Carlisle; two children, Kelley Gonzalez-Serrano of Carlisle and Kristina Thompson of Mechanicsburg; two grandchildren, Alexus Gonzalez and Isabella Gonzalez; two sisters, Rose Clugh of Baltimore, MD and Theresa Thompson of Parksley, VA; and one son-in-law, Levimael Gonzalez Serrano.
Funeral services will be held 7:00 p.m., Monday, September 22, 2014 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle is in charge of the funeral arrangements with Rev. Kenneth Hoke officiating. A viewing will be held from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
