John L. Stover, 77, of Carlisle died Monday, August 25, 2014 at Manor Care Health Services, Carlisle.
Born June 10, 1937 in Carlisle, he was a son of the late Curtis S. and Mildred A. Swartz Stover.
He was a lifelong dairy farmer in Cumberland County where he established and owned Stover Farms with his family. John proudly served his country in the United State Marine Corps. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. John loved work, family and friends.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-four years, Julia A. Stover; two sons, John C. Stover (and wife Sharon) of Carlisle and Ronald L. Stover (and wife Debra) of Carlisle; one daughter, Ann E. Shughart (and husband Neil) of Carlisle; two sisters, Jane Seymour of Carlisle and Jean Stover of Carlisle; five granddaughters: Amy Brickner, Amanda Jones, Jennifer Stover, Emily Stover, and Analise Stover; three great-grandson: Graeson Brickner, Colter Brickner, and Jameson Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. Amy Moreno officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
