John H. Mcnaney Jr.

John H. McNaney Jr., 73, of Midlothian, VA passed away Friday, January 12, 2018 at the Church of God Home, Carlisle, PA.
John was born September 26, 1944 in Elmira, NY to the late John H. Sr. and Marguerite Lewis McNaney.
John was a 1962 graduate of Mansfield High School where he excelled in soccer, baseball, basketball and golf. He later attended Mansfield State University where he played on the basketball and golf teams. John was a scratch golfer since his teenage years and was a club champion at Corey Creek Golf Club in Mansfield, PA. He graduated from Elmira College with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics. John had a long career in sales with various companies including Xerox, Kodak and Blue Cross Blue Shield. John was an avid fan of Boston sports especially the Red Sox and Celtics. He enjoyed and excelled in playing bridge and achieved the rank of Silver Life Master. John coached his son Scott’s baseball teams for twelve years in the Hampden Youth Baseball Association from Little League through Legion. He was inducted into the Tioga County Sports Hall of Fame.
John is survived by his partner of twelve years, Maria Luisa Valdes of Midlothian, VA; a son, Scott P. McNaney of Alpharetta, GA; a daughter, Kelly L. McNaney of Mechanicsburg; two grandchildren, Lauren E. Dick and Alex M. Dick both of Mechanicsburg; one brother, Michael W. (wife Iris) McNaney of Durham, NC; one sister, Sharon M. (husband Jeff) Young of Chapel Hill, NC; his children’s mother, Sandra (Maurer) McBroom of Cary, NC and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Marijane McNaney.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA.
