John F. Quinn, Jr., 79, of Newville, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born July 20, 1943, in New York City, NY to the late John F. and Anna Frances (Corr) Quinn.
John honorably served his country in the US Army until his retirement. He was also formerly employed as the publication’s editor for Halliburton and as a 4th grade teacher at Sporting Hill Elementary School in the Cumberland Valley School District. John earned a bachelor’s degree in photojournalism from San Jose State. While he was a student some of his work was published. He earned a second bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Shippensburg University many years later. When John was not spending time with his family who he loved so much, he enjoyed playing golf. He will be remembered for his generosity and his great sense of humor.
John is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Dr. Cheri L. Quinn of Newville; two daughters, Shannon M. (husband Adam) Mason of Montgomery Village, MD and Erin F. (husband Matthew) Baker of Newville; seven grandchildren; three siblings; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Patrick S. Quinn and his sister, Marie Segura.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
