John E. Shughart, Sr.

John E. Shughart, Sr., of Carlisle, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at his residence after a long battle with cancer.
He was born August 20, 1956 in Perry County to the late Earl W. and Gladys E. (Brownawell) Shughart.
John was employed at the New Cumberland Army Depot and was an avid hunter and NASCAR fan. He was a member of the White Circle Club, VFW Post #477, the American Legion, Post #101 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1299.
He is survived by his loving companion of 9 years, Julie Irwin of Carlisle; his three children, John Shughart, Jr. of Perry County, Matthew Shughart of Carlisle and Jerimy Shughart of Carlisle; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the Carlisle VFW Post #477, 2104 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 897, Hershey, PA 17033.
