John G. Doncel

John G. Doncel, 82 of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at his home. 

He was born February 8, 1941, in Bronx, NY to the late Gregorio and Rosa Marie (Rodriguez) Doncel.  John was the widower of Dina Reyes Doncel. 

John loved the outdoors, and he had fond memories of playing in the snow, swimming, and sky diving.  He lived most of his life in New York City, upstate New York, and Puerto Rico.  John enjoyed living in the city when he was younger, but he truly loved country life. He spent most of his career working as a carpenter.  John loved his wife, his family, and the Lord.  He had a very strong faith and was very active in his church, La Primera Iglesia Hispana Mi Casa De Oracion, where he was currently serving as a church officer and was loved by everyone.  John was a proud American and he honorably served his country in the US Army.    

He is survived by his loving daughter, Katherin R. (husband Eric) Slentz of Carlisle; two granddaughters, Ela and Dinah Slentz; and three sisters, Martha, Carmen, and Rose. In addition to his parents and his wife, John was preceded in death by one son, Brett and twelve siblings.   

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at La Primera Iglesia Hispana Mi Casa De Oracion, 237 Longs Gap Road Carlisle, PA 17013 with Pastors Carmen and Mario co-officiating.  Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of John to his church La Primera Iglesia Hispana Mi Casa De Oracion, 237 Longs Gap Road Carlisle, PA 17013.
