John Clair Chronister

John Clair Chronister, age 80, of Newville, PA, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle. He was born March 10, 1938 in Newville, the son of the late Roy W. and Agnes (Hoover) Chronister. He married Sandra L. Miller on September 3, 1955. She preceded in death on January 18, 2013.
John was a member of the McClure’s Gap Church of God in Newville. He had enjoyed hunting and time spent woodworking.
John is survived by his children: Larry E. Chronister of Newville, Linda K. Swartz of Newville, Wayne R. Chronister of Carlisle, and Janet L. (husband-Doug) Smith of Newville, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and his brother: Robert (wife- Shirley) Chronister of Newville.
In addition to his parents and his wife, John was preceded in death by a sister Dorothy Miller and a brother, Melvin Chronister.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 27, 2018 at the Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA 17013, with the Rev. Bradley Culwell, officiating.
A viewing will be held on Monday from 10:00 AM until time of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the McClure’s Gap Church of God, 130 Church of God Road, Newville, PA 17241.
