John B. "Jack" Owen, Jr.

John B. (Jack) Owen, Jr., age 86, of Carlisle, passed away Wednesday evening, September 16, 2015 in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Okmulgee, OK on May 18, 1929 to the late John Blair and Elmira Jane Owens Owen.
Jack was retired from the Daily Express Company of Carlisle, PA as a director of rates and tariffs. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Carlisle where Jack sang in the choir and served as a session member. In 1947 Jack became involved as the first Master Counselor of the W.M. Mason Saunders Chapter of DeMolay International in Virginia. Jack was also involved in fundraising activities for the YMCA, Relay for Life, United Way and the American Heart Association.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Margaret (Peg) Wolford Owen; two sons, John B. (wife Tammy) Owen, III of Carlisle and Tony Q. Owen of PA; a sister, Jane (husband Wayne) Frakes of VA; two grandchildren, April M. (husband Justin) Brymesser of Carlisle and Michael D. (wife Jill) Owen of Mt. Joy; and six great grandchildren, Mady, Abi, Liam, Logen, Eleya and Carter.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 27, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church on the Square in Carlisle. Officiating will be the Reverend Anthony D. Lorenz. There will be a visitation following the services. Private interment will be in the Meeting House Springs Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 2-A North Hanover Street, Carlisle, PA 17013.
