JoAnn Louise Baer, 74, of Carlisle, died Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at her home.
Born September 13, 1940 in Andersonburg, Perry County, a daughter of Olive Moose Martin and the late Thomas Martin.
She was strongly involved in her church, the Light House Church of God, Carlisle and was also involved in mission work through her church in and out of the country. JoAnn was an avid supporter of Carlisle CARES. She loved working with children and youth. JoAnn taught Sunday School and was a youth leader. She was the first to welcome any new people to her neighborhood and loved to be Grandma to all the children in the neighborhood. JoAnn was known as "Mama Baer".
Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband of fifty-five years, Ronald P. Baer; four children: Ronald P. Baer, Jr. of Eldersburg, Maryland, Brian A. Baer of Carlisle, Cathy L. Stout of Emmaus, PA, Brady J. Baer of Pittman, NJ; one brother, John C. Martin of Shippensburg; one sister, Linda M. Touloumes of York, PA; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the Brethren in Christ Church, 1155 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle with Rev. Jeffery A. Blackburn and Rev. Dr. Randy Huber co-officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
