Joan V. Martin, beloved wife of Dr. Gerald Martin (Jerry) of Carlisle, and loving mother of Steven, Julie, and Jennifer Quigley, passed very peacefully at West Shore Hospital, on March 14, 2025, with Jerry at her side.

Joan was born in Detroit, Michigan and graduated from Edwin Denby High School. She started working in the healthcare field as a lab technician at the Carlisle Hospital (now UPMC Carlisle), in 1963 and retired in 2003, after a long and successful career. She loved sports and enjoyed skiing with her ski club in Vermont.

Joan will be remembered for her kindness, love, and caring for all people. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Virginia Griffin, and brother, William.

Joan is survived and missed by her husband of 34 years, Gerald Martin, brothers, Robert and Thomas Griffin, daughters, Julie Quigley and Jennifer Quigley-Powers, and son, Steven Quigley, along with many nieces and nephews.

Ode to Joan from Jerry:

You were my North, my South, my East and West

My working week, my Sunday rest

My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song

I thought that we would live forever, I was wrong

A public viewing will be held on March 26th, 2025, from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m., followed by a funeral service, at Hoffman Funeral & Cremation, 2020 W. Trindle Rd, Carlisle, PA 17013.
