Joan H. Cleland, 86, of Carlisle, formerly of Liverpool, England, died Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born February 24, 1925 in Liverpool, England, she was a daughter of the late James and Helen Duncan Holden and the widow of Nevin Cleland.
Joan was a member of First United Church of Christ, Carlisle. She worked for George’s Flowers for 42 years.
Surviving are her daughter, Christine Mahoney (and husband, William) of Carlisle; one sister, Evelyn Tonge as well as a nephew Keith and a niece, Carole all of England and three grandchildren, Timothy Mahoney of Newville, Gregory Mahoney (and wife, Amy) of Odenton, MD and Megan Bear (and husband, Corey) of Carlisle and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Curtis A. Cleland.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 4, 2011 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. Lynn R. Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Churchtown. A viewing will be held from 6:00-7:30 p.m., Sunday, April 3, 2011 at the funeral home and also from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.
