Joan E. Bousum Bower, 67, of Carlisle, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the Church of God Home, Carlisle.
Born August 31, 1946 in Carlisle, she was a daughter of Blanche Burkepile Bousum and the late Joseph Bousum.
She was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School. Joan worked for the United Telephone Company, Daily Motors, and also, sold Avon Products. Joan was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Carlisle, where she served on several committees and the church council. Joan was a member of the Carlisle Eagles Auxiliary, the Cumberland Valley Corvette Club, the Minnequa Social Club of Shippensburg, the Fairfield AMVETS, and the American Business Women of Boiling Springs.
In addition to her mother, surviving are her husband of forty-five years, Richard Bower of Carlisle; two sisters, Ruth Oakes (and husband, John) of Mechanicsburg and Susan Mentzer (and husband, Rick) of Carlisle; two nieces, Lisa Miller of Mechanicsburg and Robin Bower of Palm Harbor, FL; two great-nieces, Alyssa Miller and Erin Miller; and one great-nephew, Connor Jensen. Also her loving dogs, Prince and Jodi.
Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 13, 2014 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 East High Street, Carlisle with Rev. Lisa M. Leber officiating. A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 14, 2014 at Reibers Church Cemetery, Reibers Church Road, Shermans Dale.

An additional viewing will be held for Joan E. Bousum Bower from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 East High Street, Carlisle.
