Jimmy Anne Castles

Jimmy Anne Castles, age 82, of Carlisle, passed away Monday, September 5, 2016 at the Cumberland Crossing Retirement Village.
She was born January 24, 1934 in (Fort Sam Houston) San Antonio, TX to the late Earl and Esther (Smith) Cooper.
Jimmy Ann was a 1951 graduate of Carlisle High School and later from the Carlisle Commercial College. After graduating, she worked as a stenographer for students at the US Army War College. On September 3, 1955, she married her high school friend, John Castles, and was an Air Force wife for 20 years. During that time, they spent 7 years overseas and moved 25 times before finally settling back in Carlisle in 1974 to retire. Jimmy Anne was raised Lutheran and she and John were married at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, John H. Castles of Carlisle; two sons, David Cooper Castles of Carlisle and Michael Hugh Castles (and wife, Susan K. Henry) of Boiling Springs; and two grandchildren, Allyson Castles (and husband Joseph) Karnavas of Austin, TX and Andrew Castles (and longtime girlfriend, Callie Salvisburg) of Boiling Springs. In addition to her parents, Jimmy Ann was preceded in death by her grandparents, James and Annie Cooper.
A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Jennifer J. McKenna officiating. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. There will be a visitation on Saturday at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bosler Memorial Library, 158 W. High Street, Carlisle, PA 17013.
