Jean Retha (McClintock) Derk, 83, of Carlisle, died Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at her home.
Born, March 3, 1929 at Shermans Dale, she was a daughter of the late Joseph E. and Naomi R. Brown McClintock.
She was a graduated of New Bloomfield High School, Class of 1946. After graduating from Polyclinic Nursing School in 1950 she served at the Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg. While living in Utah from 1965 to 1976 she worked some at Hill AFB, Ogden Utah then at the IRS Service Center of Ogden, Utah. She was a member of Astro Nr. 380 Lodge of Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of the Central Pennsylvania Rock and Mineral Club of Harrisburg. She was a member of the Brethren-In-Christ Church, Carlisle, where she belonged to the Volunteer Fellowship Sunday School Class.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 56 years, Robert F. Derk, are one step-daughter and numerous step-grandchildren, great and great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday September 20, 2012 at Brethren in Christ Church, 1155 Walnut Bottom Rd., Carlisle with Rev. Alan Robinson and Rev. Linda Lambert officiating . Burial will be private, for family only, in the family plot at Youngs’ Cemetery, Shermans Dale.
Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her church at Brethren In Christ Church, 1155 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle, PA 17013.
