Jean L. Burkholder

Jean Louise Burkholder, 84, of Carlisle, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at her home.
She was born August 22, 1934, in Carlisle, to the late Frank and Althea (Waggoner) Wentz.
Jean graduated from Carlisle High School in the class of 1952. She was formerly employed as a secretary by G.R. Kinney Shoe Company and later Jack Gaughen where she worked as a realtor for nearly 20 years. Jean was a long-time member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority and was a past board member for Meals on Wheels. She was an active member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church where she formerly sang in the choir.
Jean is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, William E. Burkholder of Carlisle; two daughters, Ann L. (husband Scott Gudes) Burkholder of Alexandria, VA and Amy (husband Benjamin) Burkholder Tschudin of Chevy Chase, MD; one son, Mark W. (wife Karen) Burkholder of Richardson, TX; three grandchildren, Jena Bowling, Laura Burkholder and Jack Tschudin; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Mary Miller, Kathleen Cohick, Helen Robinson, Ruth Kling and Martha Calaman.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 21 S. Bedford St. Carlisle, PA 17013 with Rev. Lisa M. Leber officiating. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA 17013.
