Jean H. Bishop, 83, of Silver Spring, MD, formerly of Boiling Springs, died Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Arbor Ridge at Riderwood Village.
Born February 20, 1930 in Bronx, NY, she was a daughter of the late August and Anna Tichy Hamm and the widow of Everett F. Bishop.
She was a secretary for New England Document Conservation Center of Massachusetts, Young and Rubicam, Inc. of New York City where she worked as secretary in the Publicity Department. She always wanted to be secretary and work in numerous places. She was a member of the Topsfield, MA Historical Society. She liked to cook even started her own catering business. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Carlisle.
Surviving are three children, Steven Bishop (and wife, Judy) of Columbus, OH, Karen B. Franklin (and husband, Michael) of Silver Spring, MD, and Alan Bishop (and wife, Lisa) of Kent, England; six grandchildren, Michael, Peter, Laura, Matthew, Justin, and Alexa; and one sister, Clare Hamm of Carlisle. She was preceded in death by her brother, George Hamm.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 10, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church, 2 A N. Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. Jon Black officiating. Burial will be in Meeting House Springs Cemetery, Carlisle.
