Jean Adell Shelhimer

Jean Adell Witmer Shelhimer, age 86, of Enola, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2015 in Harrisburg Hospital with her family at her side.
Beloved and devoted Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother…….Forever in our hearts.
She was born in Millersburg on March 27, 1929 to the late J. Fred and Leona Hartman Witmer and was the widow of Daniel E. Shelhimer who died in November 1980 and to whom she was married for 29 years. They married October 1951.
Jean was a radiology technologist at Carlisle Hospital and retired from Seidle Memorial Hospital in Mechanicsburg. Because of her love of children, she continued to work after retirement at the Bellaire School, retiring in1993. She was a graduate of Carlisle High School, Class of 1947 and graduated from the former Carlisle Hospital School of Radiology in 1949 and received her RT in 1950. She was a member of the Enola Emmanuel United Methodist Church, the Adult Sunday School class and the Healing Hearts of the church. Jean's most memorable times were the times she spent with her loving family.
She is survived by her daughter, Holly (and husband Fred) Urich of Enola; three grandchildren, Erin McKean, Daniel McKean and Torrey Urich; great-grandson, Elias Urich; sister-in-law, Betty Witmer; three nieces, Pam Dunkleberger, Sheri Heckman and Salle Boomershine; and nephew Michael Witmer. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and Jim Witmer; a sister, Sara Swigert; and a nephew, Brad Witmer.
Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle with Rev. Gene Liddick officiating.
