Jay A. Toms, 62, of Carlisle, passed away on Monday, August 6, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle West Shore.
He was born April 2, 1956 in Pittsburgh to the late Jay Milton and Anna V. (Corwell) Toms.
Jay graduated from Massena Central School District in 1973 and later earned an Associate Degree from SUNY Canton. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii; cars; and technology. Jay retired from Capitol Blue Cross after nearly 30 years of employment. He enjoyed spending his free time volunteering at Messiah Village in the Bailey Street Coffee Shop.
Jay is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Marcia B. Toms of Carlisle; two daughters, Courtnie D. Toms of Massena, NY and Lindsey C. Toms of Colton, NY; one sister, Barbara (husband Eric) Renaud of Chambersburg; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and his loving dog Reiley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jonathan E. Toms.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA 17013 with Rev. David Bowman officiating. Burial will follow at Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg. A viewing will be held from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Jay to Speranza Animal Rescue, 1216 Brandt Road Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
