Janet K. Rhoads

Janet K. McCalister Rhoads, 82, of Carlisle, died Thursday, August 15, 2013 at her home.
Born July 21, 1931 in Carlisle, she was a daughter of the late John S. and Lulu J. Wagner McCalister and the widow of Samuel W. Rhoads.
She worked at the A & P Grocery of Carlisle for 26 years, then as a receptionist for Dickinson Kline Center for 13 ½ years. She was a member of Good Shepherd Community United Methodist Church, Carlisle where she served as secretary of the Church's Women's Group and a former trustee. She was an avid golfer, bowler, and loved the outdoors. She loved her companion cat "Lady". But most of all she enjoyed the time she spent with her children, especially all of her grandchildren and great grandson.
Surviving are her son, Samuel S. Rhoads (and wife, Vicki) of Carlisle; two daughters, Bonnie E. Rhoads of Harrisburg and Susan J. Crusey (and husband, Niley) of Mt. Holly Springs; two brothers, Lynn McCalister (and wife, Shirley) of Stargello, MN and Oliver Bruce McCalister (and wife, Esther) of Carlisle; sister, Mabel Grasse of Lisbon Falls ME; three grandchildren, Shane Crusey (and wife, Emily), Stephanie Rhoads, and Samuel W. Rhoads; and one greatgrandson, Grayson Michael Crusey. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Robert McCalister and two sisters, Shirley Johnson and Isabelle Heshion.
Private graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Westminster Memorial Gardens, 1159 Newville Road, Carlisle with Chaplain Timothy D. Wheeler officiating. A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, August 19, 2013 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle.
