Janet Fay (Demarest) Catarino, Age 75 of Boiling Springs, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, May 20. Born November 7, 1941 in Plainfield, NJ, she was the daughter of the late John F. Demarest and Emma E. (Houston) Demarest.
Janet was a graduate of South Plainfield High School Class of 1959, South Plainfield, New Jersey. Janet was elected Football Queen of her senior class and was active in the school's Athletic Club. Janet attended Drake Business College in New Jersey, then worked for Public Service Electric & Gas for nine years as an administrative assistant. Janet married her high school sweetheart on October 7, 1961. Janet and her husband Mike started their married life in New Jersey, and continued their adventure in Connecticut, Michigan and finally Pennsylvania.
Janet's family was her world, as she was ours, and she was her happiest when she was spending time with her family. She was the ultimate caregiver to her children, husband, grandchildren and family pets. She also had a true talent with interior decorating and was known for her keen sense of humor. Janet loved spending time with her family at the family beach house at the Jersey shore, a place she had been going to since she was a little girl. Janet took pride in her home, shore house, but most of all, her family. Janet loved cooking meals, especially around the holidays.
Janet is survived by her husband of 55 ½ years, Michael Catarino; daughter, Stephanie Wissman (Mike) of Mechanicsburg, PA, granddaughters, Jenna Wissman and Allyson Wissman; and daughter, Cheryl Slothower (Chad) of Boiling Springs, PA.
