Jamie M. Hays

Jamie Michael Hays left us to be with The Lord in the early morning hours of Thursday, March 16, 2023. Jamie was born on April 24, 1974 at Carlisle Hospital to Wendy Kelso Sheaffer and the late Randy A. Hays.

Jamie is survived by his loving wife, Gina Hoover Hays, daughters Angie and Desarae, grandchildren Aubri, Jaiden, and Ma’Kai, his mother and stepfather Wendy and Don Sheaffer, brother Jesse Sheaffer and wife Ashley, sister Amber Hays, as well as his nieces and nephews.

He was a graduate from Big Spring High School and Cumberland Perry Vo-Tech in 1992. Jamie worked for HB McClure for over 20 years and learned his profession from the ground up. He was co-owner, along with his wife, of Kimberly’s Café in Carlisle. He was well known in the community as president of the Carlisle Little League, CAMF Smurf Coach, YMCA Basketball Coach, and Vice President of the Cumberland County Pool League. He was a member and volunteer firefighter at both Penn Township Fire Company 50, Newville, PA, as well as the Empire Hook & Ladder Company 43 in Carlisle where he held many officer positions including fire chief. He was a member of the Moose, The Carlisle Circle, and the Carlisle AmVets.

Jamie was an avid hunter, fisherman, racing enthusiast and fan of both the Boston Red Sox and Washington “Redskins”. He loved camping, playing cornhole, disc golf, lawn darts, and was considered “The Grill Master”. His biggest love by far was for his wife, Gina, his family and grandchildren. He loved coaching the grandchildren in all sports, teaching them respect, and to love life. He was so committed and proud of each of them, and each held a very special place in his heart.

Jamie will be missed dearly by his family, his friends, those he mentored and coached, and those who just needed a helping hand. We will remember his big heart, sense of humor, and his ability to bring people together.

Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service 2 PM Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Rd., Carlisle, where friends may greet the family from 12 to 2 PM. Interment will be held privately.
